The Today widget
In the Android and iOS apps, the Today widget shows your day on the home screen without opening the app: the events still to come, today's open tasks (with a red ring when due or late) and today's follow-ups, with the day's progress in its header. Its + button adds a task, and a tap anywhere else opens today's page.
To add it:
- Android: touch and hold the home screen, tap Widgets, find Rollov and drag Today to your home screen. It can be resized from 2×1 up.
- iPhone: touch and hold the home screen, tap Edit then Add Widget, search for Rollov and pick a size: small, medium or large.
The widget follows the phone's light or dark mode, speaks the app's language, and shows what the app last saw: changes made on another device show once this phone's app has synced them.
What the widget shows
The home screen is visible to anyone holding your phone, so:
- locked tasks, events and people never go into the widget;
- while the app lock covers the whole app or Days, the widget only says it is locked;
- Settings › Privacy & security › Home screen widget › Show what's on today turned off makes it show only how many tasks, events and follow-ups there are. It starts off for end-to-end encrypted accounts.
App icon shortcuts
Touch and hold Rollov's app icon for New task, New note and Brain dump. Each opens Rollov straight there.
Siri and the Shortcuts app
On iPhone (iOS 16 and later), say "New task in Rollov", "New note in Rollov" or "Show today in Rollov", in English, Korean, Japanese, Spanish, German or Traditional Chinese. The same actions are in the Shortcuts app, where New task can take text from an earlier step and opens it as a draft to check before adding.
Share into Rollov
On Android, share text or a link from another app to Rollov and it opens as a draft you can add as a task or a note. In a browser where Rollov is installed as an app, Rollov is in the share sheet too.
Home screen shortcuts on the web
When Rollov is installed from the browser (see Install), its icon also offers New task and New note.
